Adventures

Best known for its diving, Belize is nestled along almost 200 miles (322 km) of pristine barrier reef and offers some of the best wall and reef dives in the world.

You can come to River House Lodge to just go diving, but you will miss out on many other exciting adventures.

There are over 900 ancient Mayan ruins scattered around the country, which is also riddled with caves, the vast majority of which remain unexplored, unnamed, and unknown to modern man.

Belize is also home to 4,000 species of native flowering plants, 250 varieties of wild orchids, 700 species of native trees and 550 species of birds.

No matter what brings you to Belize, River House Lodge offers the ideal location and amenities for you to experience everything Belize has to offer, both on and off-shore.

From lounging by the pool sipping a cold beverage, strolling along the beach, or fishing for the big one, to diving with whale sharks, cave tubing, jungle hiking or Mayan ruin exploration, the only question is:

What do you want to do today?

Boat tour of the Sittee River

Factoids:

Day sailing tours are now available aboard our 38 foot Fountain Pajot catamaran from River House Lodge to the Reef for guests.  See our 'Sailing' page for more information.

Special Offer - Guests can explore the Sittee River area with FREE use of our available bikes and kayaks.

Bikes:  From River House Lodge you can go -

Left and head thru the quaint Creole village of Sittee River to the former Serpon Sugar Mill (an easy 45 minute bike from the lodge).  Here you can still see the remnants of the former mill, including a giant 19th century steam engine - which is losing the battle with the jungle.  This is a great place to see birds.

Right and head toward the beach for a swim in the refreshing waters of Caribbean (only a quick 20 minute bike from the lodge) and perhaps continue on for a visit to the the fishing village of Hopkins.

Kayaks:  See our 'Kayaking' page for more information on this adventure.

Tour excursions are available thru licensed tour operators and guides, or you can explore much of the area on your own.
