Fishing
The Sittee River and all of southern Belize offers some of the best saltwater fly fishing, light tackle and trolling anywhere.  Spin, fly, and troll fishing are available year round at a variety of locations.  Tarpon and Snook are prevalent in the Sittee River and you can throw in a line right from the River House Lodge dock.

Bonefish, Permits, and Barracuda can be found in the lagoon and coral Flats.  In fact, many anglers believe the Permit fishing to be the best in the world.

Out at the Barrier Reef you are more likely to find Barracuda, Kingfish, King Mackerel, and Jackfish.  Other abundant species include Snappers (Cubera, Mutton, Gray, Yellowtail), Crevalle Jack, and Grouper (Black, Red, Tiger, Yellowfin). You may even run into the occasional Billfish, Dorado (dolphin), or Sea Bass.

The deeper waters of the lower reef and atolls are also great for Sailfish, Wahoo, Tuna (Black- and Yellow-fin), Bonita, Mahi-mahi, and Marlin.

No matter what kind of fish you are looking for, if you are experienced or a novice, there is something here for you.
